L. Heath (Linda Lee Heath) was trained as a mathematician and social scientist, specializing in computerized forecasting. She spent 25 years in the information technology industry, working as a forecaster, programmer analyst and project manager. However, the corporate world rarely satisfied her need for creativity and individualism. As a consequence, like her hero Leonardo da Vinci, she immersed herself in efforts to do things differently, always in search of a better way. Growing up in and then living among various cultures, she was forever searching for her life work. As a hobby, she returned again and again to oil painting and now as an early retiree, she is focusing her passion on spending the rest of her life immersed in the fascinating world of art.
Linda’s classical art training was obtained at the San Francisco Academy of Art. She continues to refine her skills at a number of workshops with California and New Mexico artists. She recently moved to Placitas, NM from Sausalito, California. There she draws inspiration from the Santa Fe/Taos connection as well as from her mountain retreat in Cloudcroft, New Mexico.
Extensive travels in her youth as an Air Force brat in Morocco and later with her husband, while on a 7-year sojourn in Saudi Arabia, introduced her to some of the great art and archaeology museums of the world. Ancient and Renaissance art in the Middle Eastern and European capitals touched her deeply. These great realistic artists in stone and in paint spoke to her as prophets reaching across time, to help the world remember to appreciate beauty in all its myriad forms. Her work reflects a desire to communicate with the ancients through classical still life painting and a desire to share the beauty of the present through impressionistic landscapes.
