Lew Engle is a relative newcomer to his chosen field of photography. A retired business consultant, resident of Placitas for ten plus years, during most of that time he travelled extensively both in and out of the U.S., taking "pictures" all the while. Four plus years ago Lew was urged by some artist (paint media) friends to get serious about his photography. Receiving confirmation from several professionals who viewed samples of his work, Lew began his new career.

Participating in a number of workshops, both in Santa Fe N.M. and Rockport, Me., he worked with a number of highly reputed nature and outdoor photography professionals (Arthur Meyerson, Eddie Soloway, Lewis Kemper, and David Middleton to name a few); all the while learning and expanding. Throughout this time period, Lew continued to travel and photograph to the tune of some eight to ten thousand images.

Today, Lew's images are hung in the homes of numerous fans. Endowed with an inate eye for composition, a love of rich and brilliant color, and a desire to be at one with nature in all its many moods,Lew's diverse work reflects these qualities. His interpretations speak to his unique "seeing" of the usual.
