Mary Brown

Ms. Brown has worked as a fine art professional since 2004 and recently began integrating her artistic talents into her archaeological pursuits. Ms. Brown is currently conducting independent archaeological research in the application of behavioral communication theory to the study of rock art. In addition, she assists the Las Cruces district of the BLM with site condition assessments and surveys and provides archaeological illustrations for the Office of Contract Archaeology (OCA). Ms. Brown is currently collaborating with a small group of fellow archaeologists to initiate a series of paintings that will interpret prehistoric daily life at important archaeological sites in New Mexico. The series will serve the public education endeavors of the archaeological community by personalizing and humanizing the sites in an effort to reinforce the importance of preserving and protecting archaeological resources.
