I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in metalsmithing from Colorado State University. Although my studio is surrounded by magnificent views, as well as Piñon (nut) trees, the studio's name was originally conceived from the translation of Nisenbaum. Nuttree Studio specializes in jewelry, metalwork and fibers. The common ingredients are beads — gemstone, glass, metal, shell or fabric. The variety of beads available today is an irresistible eye-candy, beckoning the bead artist to accumulate an endless supply! Many elements of my work are from local and American artists, as well as international markets. Several are vintage pieces. Whereas fabrication with sterling, copper and brass was my preferred technique in previous years, my jewelry now includes wirework and finger-weaving. The discovery of new techniques and materials is a welcomed challenge. The majority of my work is 'One of a Kind' and several pieces are limited production. The designs are often whimsical and generally improvisational, always with an attention to craftsmanship. I strive for technical excellence and the highest quality of workmanship. Each piece is handmade with enthusiasm! Thanks for visiting.
