I was looking down one century and saw these two nice Sicilian artist-type folks in Omaha, Nebraska;
kiss’n and hug’n, and stuff.
Cool! They’re it; I can be a renaissance man with them; when I grow up. I’m still waiting for this
part.
Next: I was always an art major in school; Omaha U. and Long Beach State.
I think I remember that the later asked me to leave because my last work with them was way too big,
too round, and too sculptural to be a regular painting. OK, no problem; onward and upward.
After a lot of drawings, 35mm fotos, kid stuff and living in the Bay Area, I discovered Plexiglas in the
70s and made some art pieces. I also did custom display and fabrication work for major corporate
clients, museums, architects, retail stores, and private art collections.
I shared a studio for 3 years with painter and sculptor Jim Grant. We collaborated on sculptural
commissions, our own cast polyester pieces, and making great award winning vino as well.
In the 80s my wife Anne and I made ‘Art to Wear’ using polyester resins, acrylic, some precious
metals, acrylic auto paint, fabrics, etc. We enjoyed international success, great press, and we loved
working with our 22 talented artisans in our studio in sunny downtown Oakland, CA.
In the 90s we moved on to create home interior designs to the trade, and we featured them our retail
store ‘Vero, San Francisco.’ I got my first computer then and started making digital images.
We were blessed to be able to move to Placitas in 2004. I love living in one of oldest continuously
inhabited places on earth, I think. A lot of art has been produced here over the ages; from early cave
paintings to everything being made today and is seen on the placitasartists.com website.
My interests now are Googling everything, running our Salukis, waiting to see what 2012 and the
Mayans have in store for us, and creating my digital works.
