Bebe Marks
Bebe Marks was a longtime resident of Placitas and throughout an extended illness,
she drew sustenance and inspiration from the sights she cherished and enjoyed
sharing with others. She remained in her Placitas home as long as it was possible —
nearly until her passing in February 2020. Bebe had a great love of the outdoors,
exploration, and hiking. Many of her photos were taken out on the trail. Most of her
photos are taken within the State of NM, and many in the Placitas area.
Bebe’s mother was a professional artist. Her mother greatly influenced Bebe’s
knowledge of composition, perspective, color and light. Her mother worked in many
mediums, from collage, to sculpture, pen and ink to oil. Bebe was fond of saying that
she grew up with the smell of oil paint and turpentine in her nostrils.
Bebe was a self- taught photographer. She spent many years honing her photography
skills. Bebe’s road runner photos are featured on the national web site:
www.statesymbolsusa.org as the NM State bird. More of Bebe’s photos can been seen
at these YouTube links.
